Zac Brown Band Cancel 2017 Southern Ground Music & Food Festival
Zac Brown Band have canceled their annual Southern Ground Music & Food Festival for 2017, citing the need to focus on their forthcoming new album, Welcome Home.
Originally scheduled for May 20-21, 2017, and announced as part of ZBB's summer tour schedule, Southern Ground has been a staple for country fans in Charleston, S.C., since 2011. In 2016, the fest boasted an impressive lineup including Zac Brown Band (of course), Thomas Rhett, the Marshall Tucker Band, Hunter Hayes, Kacey Musgraves, Sam Bush, A Thousand Horses, Old Dominion, Cam and Drake White, as well as solo performances from numerous ZBB members.
Fortunately, although the 2017 fest has been canceled, ZBB assure fans that the two-day concert event will be back in 2018.
2017's Country, Americana, Alt-Country, Bluegrass and Folk Tours
"We regret to announce that the 2017 Southern Ground Music & Food Festival will be rescheduled for next year," a statement on the festival's website says. "Zac Brown Band will take this time to focus on the new album, Welcome Home, and SGMFF will return in 2018. Appreciate all the support and love."
Welcome Home, due out on May 12, will see the Zac Brown Band return to their roots following 2015's genre-bending Jekyll + Hyde. The band recently released the album's lead single, "My Old Man."
The absence of the Southern Ground Music & Food Festival doesn't mean that ZBB will be completely off the road in 2017, however: Their massive Welcome Home Tour will kick off on May 12 and hit nearly 40 cities -- including a stop at WE Fest 2017 in August -- through the end of October.
