You Can Still Visit These 10 Horror Movie Locations! Got A Favorite?
As we get closer to Halloween, horror movies have been on my mind. Some of the most famous horror films, also have some famous locations. It is one thing to see them on the big screen or streaming them at home. It would be another to see it in person. The Monroeville Mall just outside of Pittsburgh is still standing (where 1978's Dawn of the Dead was filmed). The gas station in Bastrop, Texas that was in Texas Chainsaw Massacre has become a tourist attraction. But here are 10 that you may want to visit sometime.
The Blair Witch Project
This movie was filmed in Burkittville, Maryland. Most of the film was shot in Seneca Creek State Park. You can visit their website HERE.
The Conjuring
The film is based on the hauntings which occurred in the Perron home in the early 1970's. This house is in Currie, North Carolina. 405 Canetuck Road. The "real" haunted house that the movie is based on is in Rhode Island. More info HERE.

Rosemary's Baby
The apartment in Rosemary's Baby was filmed in NYC. The apt is The Dakota and it was the setting of the Bramford family.
Paranormal Activity
The house used in the movie is located at 13236 Bavarian Drive, San Diego, CA. Built in 1986, the 2,314 square foot house has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths. It also has a large yard with a patio, swimming pool, and a partial basketball court. More info HERE.
The Shining
The film used exterior shots of the Timberline Lodge at Mt. Hood in Oregon. The Overlook Hotel (Stanley Hotel) was the inspiration for the story written by Stephen King. Hotel is in Estes Park, Colorado
Halloween

Carnival of Souls
The abandoned pavilion from Carnival of Souls is still around. Movie is over 60 years old, and the site is located in Magna, Utah.
Psycho
The Bates Motel and Psycho house is still on the Universal Studios backlot. You will need to buy a ticket to the park and take the tram tour.
"IT"
The abandoned house on Neibolt Street from the movie "IT" in 2017. This 105 year old mansion is known as the Cranfield House, is in Toronto.
