I keep seeing these tests advertised on television and online and it makes me want to find where you roots lie. I'm adopted so it's even more appealing to me.

I was born in Clinton, Missouri and given up at birth. I was adopted to my mother and father within a few days.

About four to five years ago, I did research to find my birth mother and/or father. I found my mom during this research.

I've met my biological mother and members of that side of my family, and I know the name of my biological father but he passed away some years ago.

If you go online you can find a handful of companies that helps you to uncover your ethnic mix, discover distant relatives, and find new details about your unique family history with a simple DNA test.

Some of the companies that pop-up on the first page when you type in your search for "DNA Test" include 23andme.com and Ancestory.com.

Both claim to help you find your roots.  Have you taken the plunge to find yours?
