How about a holiday weekend that isn't completely washed out?

A few showers and/or lingering thunderstorms will continue to move east across northern Missouri this morning; though partly cloudy skies and warm temperatures are what is expected to prevail through the rest of the day once the storms move east. Next chance of widespread storms will arrive as soon as Saturday, with strong to severe storms possible Saturday afternoon and evening; especially in areas along and south of I-70. If you have plans Saturday, make sure you keep an eye on the weather. Otherwise, Sunday and Monday of the holiday weekend will rather nice with high temperatures in the mid to upper 70s and dry conditions.

The Missouri Highway Patrol will be out in force during the peak periods on Friday, May 26 and on Monday, May 29.

The Memorial Day weekend is also an unofficial start to the boating season. Troopers will be targeting all boating violations and will be especially vigilant to careless watercraft operations throughout the entire holiday weekend.

Be safe this weekend.
