Due to construction work to place a new water main and valve into service, a Water Boil Advisory will be in effect
from Mon. April 5 at 7 a.m. until testing is complete on Tuesday April 6, at 6 p.m. along both sides of South Ohio Ave. from East 13th Street to East 20th Street and on East 16th Street from South Ohio Avenue to South Washington Avenue, according to a press release from the City of Sedalia.

Travelers in the area of the intersection of East 16th Street and South Ohio Ave. this weekend, April 2 through April 4, will notice water in the roadway as a water distribution system valve has failed.

The failed valve and associated water main were originally scheduled for abandonment on April 5-6. After the valve failed, it was determined that the parts for the scheduled replacement will be available for installation on Monday, April 5, and until that time water will continue to be visible on the roadway.

On Monday, April 5 and Tuesday April 6, travelers in the area around the East 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue intersection are encouraged to plan for use of alternate routes to avoid delays due to workers and equipment in and along the roadway.

The City apologized for any inconvenience the equipment failure may have caused and for the lane restrictions on East 16th allowing for completion of these improvements to the water utility services in the area.

The work is weather and equipment dependent and may be affected by inclement weather or equipment breakdowns, the City said.
