Missouri Walmart Stores Have Quietly Made a Change about Returns
There is a really good chance that you will be exceedingly happy about what I'm about to share. There's word that Missouri Walmart stores have quietly made a game-changing adjustment to what happens when you return an item and I predict many will be pleased.
I have had terrible results whenever I try to buy an electronic item and specifically computers. Even being a certified technician, the struggle in finding a machine that's reliable is a perpetual challenge to me which has resulted in more returns than I care to admit in public. The change that Walmart has just made to returns will not help someone like me.
How has Walmart changed their return policy?
There's an interesting story just shared by MSN which says that customers who have gone through the return process in Missouri stores sometimes will now receive a message that says the following:
"Keep the item, your refund has been issued."
On some low-dollar items, Walmart has decided that it's best that you just keep what you bought instead of it costing them more money to deal with putting it back into stock or shipping it back to a warehouse. When you think about it, that makes sense. By the time that Walmart deals with shipping and having someone inspect the item, they have already spent more than what some items are worth. Just writing it off as a loss is a more solid strategy.
Does this mean you should just pick up cheap things then go ask for your money back? That would be a terrible way to treat a store no matter how large it is and would end up driving up prices for everyone. In addition, you don't know which items will be a part of this "just let the customer keep the thing" policy and which ones won't. It's just another effort for retail brick and mortar stores to try and cut costs even if it seems unconventional like this return policy does.
