Figures supplied by the Missouri Secretary of State show slight increases in the number of registered voters in Pettis and surrounding counties. Others had slight decreases since 2018.

As of Oct. 21, Pettis County had 26,926 registered voters, compared to 26,474 in November, 2018.

Saline County had 14,083 registered voters as of Oct. 21, compared to 14,036 in November, 2018.

Benton County had 14,715 registered voters as of Oct. 21, compared to 14,586 in November, 2018.

Johnson County has 33,029 registered voters as of Oct. 21, compared to 32,116 in November, 2018.

Henry County had 15,915 registered voters as of Oct. 21, compared to 15,756 in November, 2018.

Cooper County had 11,684 registered voters as of Oct. 21, compared to 11,640 in November, 2018.

Morgan County had 12,993 registered voters as of Oct. 21, compared to 12,433 in November, 2018.

Statewide, as of Oct. 22, 60,733 mail-in ballots were requested. 585,546 absentee balllots were requested. And 484,206 ballots were returned to a local election authority, according to Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft.

The turnout for the August Primary Election was 30.51 percent, or 1,270,178 voters.

The turnout for the General Presidential Election Nov. 3, is expected to be much higher.

Locally, Pettis County Election Authority Nick La Strada is predicting an 80 percent turnout on Nov. 3.
