The League Of Women Voters of Sedalia-Pettis County will celebrate the 100th anniversary of Women's Equality Day on Wednesday at the Pettis County Courthouse.

According to Kathleen Boswell, she, along with Mary Merritt and another League member, will conduct a voter registration event on the courthouse lawn from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Women's Equality Day focuses on the day 100 years ago when federal law gave women the right to vote (19th Amendment). The non-partisan League of Women Voters tasked themselves with registering women to vote, with an emphasis on voter education.

On Wednesday, any citizen of Pettis County will be able to fill out the paperwork to get registered to vote in the November General Election. Others who need to change their address may do so, also.

Boswell said look for the yellow parasol and the voter registration sign on the courthouse lawn Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
