The University of Central Missouri will celebrate diversity next week, with 'Unity Week,' beginning Monday, February 13th.
One of the highlights planned for the week will be a presentation by humorist, activist, author, and podcast personality, Tyler Oakley.

Oakley is scheduled to appear on Thursday evening (Feb 16), at 7:30, in Hendricks Hall.

Oakley’s activism has been dedicated to LGBT youth, LGBT rights, and social issues involving healthcare, education and suicide prevention among LGBT youth. According to a press release from UCM,  Oakley is active across many social media platforms. He first began creating and posting YouTube videos in 2007. His first video, “Raindrops,” received more than 400,000 views by the beginning of 2016

He is a published author and has appeared on a variety of television and web formats, as well as receiving attention and acclaim, from a variety of celebrities and organizations. He has volunteered and participated in fundraising for 'The Trevor Project', a teen suicide prevention organization.

Other events planned for 'Unity Week,' include, gathering at the Unity Pole, presentations about diversity and activism, and a presentation by spoken word artist , Louis Conphliction.
