Journey inside two South Carolina elementary schools, and see how one small town is making significant strides in educating students. The Peabody Award-winning PBS documentary, “180 Days: Hartsville,”premieres on KMOS-TV in March. Airing of this program on the University of Central Missouri’s public television station is in addition to opportunities for parents and Missouri educators to attend free pre-screening events and panel discussions in Warrensburg, Feb. 18; Jefferson City, March 2; and Columbia, March 5.

“180 Days: Hartsville” also follows one family and the struggles of a working single mother and her fifth-grade son. The program challenges viewers to consider, is Hartsville an anomaly, or does its successes point towards some universally applicable solutions in education? Additionally, can education and community leadership really change the fortunes of a generation by not letting its youngest children fall through the cracks?
