Two Sedalians were injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Monday night in Pettis County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2023 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 40-year-old Ella Benkazarova of Sedalia, was State Route U, just south of Smasal Road around 8:30 p.m., when the vehicle ran off the left side of the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned.

Benkazarova and her passenger, 39-year-old Benjamin Adams of Sedalia, suffered moderate injuries and were transported Bothwell Regional Hospital for treatment. Adams was taken via PCAD, while Benkazarova was taken by patrol vehicle. Neither were wearing their seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the report.

The Tacoma was totaled and towed by InMotion.

Pettis County Deputies assisted the Patrol.

Benkazarova was later arrested by the Patrol at 9:05 p.m. She now faces a charge of driving while intoxicated. She was taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released.
