
Two MoDOT Workers Killed, One Injured by Vehicle
Two Department of Transportation workers died and a third was seriously injured after they were hit by a vehicle on an interstate in eastern Missouri.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the employees were hit Thursday morning around 11 a.m., as they worked on a ramp onto Interstate 255 at Missouri 231 in Mehlville (St. Louis County).
Two workers died at the scene and the third was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Killed were 25-year-old Kaitlyn D. Anderson of De Soto, and 58-year-old James W. Brooks of St. Louis.
Injured was 35-year-old Michael S. Brown of House Springs. He was taken to Mercy Hospital South by Mehlville Fire & Protection District for treatment of serious injuries.
The patrol says they were repainting stripes on the road when a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by 52-year-old Stanley W. McFadden of Hillsboro, struck them. McFadden was taken to Mercy South by Mehlville Fire & Protection District with moderate injuries.
A 2013 Chevy Silverado 3500 was also struck by McFadden.
The Silverado had minor damage, while the Cavailer had extensive damage.
