Three people were injured in a Johnson County accident that occurred Monday afternoon.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that an eastbound 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 52-year-old Michael W. Ford of Knob Noster, was on Route BB, west of SW 21st Road at 12:52 p.m., when he encountered a westbound vehicle in the eastbound lanes. Ford swerved to avoid a head-on collision and traveled off the roadway. The Jeep then overturned and struck a tree.

Ford suffered serious injuries, and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center for treatment.

Passenger Trisha L. Enarson, 47, Knob Noster, suffered serious injuries, and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital for treatment.

Passenger Richard G. Young, 63, Warrensburg, suffered minor injuries, and refused transport.

None were wearing their seat belt, according to the report.

The Jeep Cherokee was totaled.

The westbound vehicle did not stop, but instead left the scene and remains unknown.
