There’s An Abandoned Resort In Missouri That’s Still Eerily Fascinating
If you ever take a road trip around the state of Missouri, you will find a fair amount of abandoned ruins, towns that are almost ghost towns and desolate. Not every town is as thriving as St Louis or Kansas City, or even Columbia. There is an abandoned place not too far from Branson that could have been really cool, but never came to be.
The website Only In Your State provided the photos and some details of the now deserted Indian Ridge Resort Community. Unfortunately you are not able to visit, as it is closed off and you will be arrested for trespassing. But perhaps you can imagine how amazing it would have looked.
It was supposed to be close to Table Rock Lake. 900 acres. You would have had condominiums, a resort, plenty of shopping, a water park, golf courses and a 400 room hotel. Oh what could have been.
$1.5 Billion was going into this place, but something happened in 2006. You may remember this, if you were living in Missouri. The Great Recession. Because of that period of time from 2007-2009, all of the construction on this resort had stopped. Obviously, it was never rebuilt or restarted.
Several of the structures, have been abandoned. Many of the people involved with the project were also indicted and got jail sentences for bank fraud.
Though this might be kind of cool to see "what could have been" you can't drive around it. You can still see the abandoned resort from near the Silver Dollar City exit on Missouri Highway 76 in Branson.
This could have been a thriving place. Unfortunately it never came to be. You can check out the video below to get more info on this.
