That Official Looking IRS Letter Is Not An Audit Notice
So I went out to check the mail on Saturday morning and paging through the different envelopes and junk delivered by the post office was an official looking letter from the Internal Revenue Service. My heart sank. My mind jumped to the thought I was being audited. On top of everything else. I began cursing how bad 2020 was turning out under my breath. That didn't turn out to be the case at all.
It was a letter from the Internal Revenue Service acknowledging they had deposited our stimulus money in our account. I'll be honest, I just skimmed it. Noticed the amount they said they deposited and breathed a big sigh of relief.
So if you get a letter from the IRS in the net few weeks after getting your stimulus payment don't freak out. You're probably not in trouble with the IRS, they're just acknowledging that you should have received your stimulus payment.
And FYI, if you haven't done your taxes yet. The IRS has moved the filing deadline to July 15.
