Taste New Orleans at the Liberty Center On Thursday July 28

Think you have to travel to New Orleans to experience crawfish, shrimp, and great Zydeco music? Nope. All you need to do is boogie on down to the Liberty Center on Thursday, July 28 to experience some New Orleans eats and sounds.

It's the Liberty Center Association for the Art's inaugural Crawfish and Shrimp Boil in the Liberty Center parking lot starting at 6:00 PM CDT. With the Earnest James Zydeco Band playing at 7:00 PM CDT.

According to About Face Touring Ernest James Zydeco Band performs "Traditional Louisiana style original zydeco music that features the accordion and scrub board." The band is known for their upbeat performances filled with good-time energy. The band has headlined the International Cajun and Zydeco Festival in the Netherlands and closer to home have played Knuckleheads and Jazz Louisiana Kitchen in Kansas City. The cost is $20 a person to enjoy both the crawfish and shrimp boil and the music. Or if seafood isn't your thing, but Zydeco is, the cost is  $8.00 to just hang out and experience the band.

Additionally, the Junior Theater Workshop at the Liberty Center is presenting "A Play in a Week" on Saturday night August 6 at 7:30 PM CDT, and A staged reading of Jacques Futrelle's new play "The Thinking Machine" on Saturday night August 27.

"A Play in a Week" tickets are $10 and the staged reading of "The Thinking Machine" is free, but donations are appreciated.  For more information on these two shows and how you can be involved with the Liberty Center Association for the Arts check out the Liberty Center website.
