Songwriter City Comes To Arrow Rock
I have been a fan of country music for a long time. More often than not, it truly is a genre of music that values the song as much as the artist. This is why the CMA's have an award for Song of The Year, and Single of the Year. One is for the artist who sang the tune, and the other is for the songwriter who wrote it.
For many of us, we associate the song with the artist, but the songwriting is where the money and recognition can really be. Arrow Rock's Lyceum Theatre is bringing an event that you will want to see. It features two amazing songwriters who have written for some of the best in the business, as well as for themselves, and had a lot of success. Paul Overstreet and Scotty Emerick.
Paul has written songs for legendary artists like Randy Travis, Kenny Chesney, Keith Whitley, and Blake Shelton. He had his own number 1 single with Daddy's Come Around which you can hear above. He is also in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Scotty is best known for his collaborations with Toby Keith. He co-wrote Beer For My Horses with Willie Nelson, and has also written tunes for Sawyer Brown. The song above is another collaboration with Toby called "I Can't Take You Anywhere"
To see two successful songwriters, play songs that have entertained so many, is really a unique experience and you will get to hear these guys tell the stories about how songs came about. It will just be the two of them, with two acoustic guitars. And hopefully you!
If you are interested in this event you can call the Lyceum Theatre at 660-837-3311 or click HERE for the link to secure your tickets for this event. I will be talking to Paul this Wednesday morning at 8:30am to hear more about his life and this show. It will be a great time, and it is only a short drive away for a once in a lifetime listening event.
