Sedalia Police Reports For September 30, 2021

Early Thursday morning, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the Bothwell Regional Health Center Emergency Room, 601 East 14th Street, in reference to a dog bite. Officers spoke with Jonathan James Lee Vansel, who said while in the 400 block of East 13th Street, he was giving the dog "kisses" when it bit him. There were puncture wounds on Vansel's face.

Wednesday morning, Kelsey Capelton came into the Sedalia Police Department's lobby to report a violation of a full order of protection that occurred earlier in the day in the 400 block of South Ohio Avenue. Formal charges are being forwarded to the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office for consideration.

An Officer initiated a traffic stop on a truck for failing to signal near West 3rd Street and South Grand Avenue Wednesday afternoon. A check through Dispatch showed the driver had an active Pettis County warrant for Domestic Assault in the 4th Degree, Violation of a Full Order of Protection, and Property Damage in the 2nd Degree with a $2,500 cash or surety bond. Uber Adelso Montejo, 40, of Sedalia, was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on his warrant.

Tuesday evening, The Sedalia Police Department's Crime Resolution Unit conducted a vehicle stop in the 2800 block of South Grand Avenue for a registration violation. During the course of the vehicle stop, the driver was found to have a revoked driving status. Evidence related to drug contraband was observed inside the vehicle, which led to a probable cause search. Additional items related to drug activity were found inside the vehicle. Joseph Lee Card, 30, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest for Driving While Suspended, Possession of a Dangerous Drug, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Card admitted prior to transport to the jail he had a controlled substance concealed on his person. Card was transported to the Pettis County Jail and placed on a 24 hour hold pending formal charges with the prosecutor's office.

Wednesday afternoon, Mason C. Michel, 21, of Knob Noster, came to the Police Department to turn himself in for a possible warrant. Michel's information was run through Dispatch and a Failure to Appear warrant for Driving While Intoxicated was located and confirmed. Michel was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, to post a $250 cash bond and was given a court date.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 16th Street and South Ohio Avenue for a moving violation Tuesday night. A passenger in the vehicle had an active Pettis County warrant. Chelsea N. Byrd, 29, of Sedalia, was arrested on a Failure to Appear warrant on original charges of Stealing and Trespassing in the 1st Degree. Bond was set at $250 cash only, but was later reduced to $150 cash only.

Officers conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of East 12th Street and South Garfield Avenue Wednesday morning. A computer check of the driver showed they had an active probation violation warrant from Cooper County on original charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance. When the warrant was confirmed active, Latecia F. Hart, 29, of Sedalia, was placed under arrest and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where she was given a total bond of $4500.

On the morning of September 29th, Officers stopped a vehicle in the 3500 block of West Broadway Boulevard for a registration issue. The driver, James Smith, said that one of his license plates had been stolen in July of 2021 and he wished to report it as stolen. There are no suspects.
