Sedalia Police Reports For June 23, 2022

Early Thursday morning, Officers took a report of theft in the 1700 block of East 4th Street. The victim, who was not named in the report, stated that her green and black Coleman BT200X motorbike was stolen from her front yard.

Wednesday evening, Officers were dispatched to a disturbance in the 1000 block of East 3rd Street. When Police arrived, there were several individuals arguing in the roadway. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered the suspect had assaulted his father and his step sister. Dalton T. Hayes, 22, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree.

Sedalia Police were informed by Charles Lowe about found property at the Car Wash, 300 East 16th Street Tuesday night. The property was collected and taken to the Police Department for safe keeping. The property will be stored until the owner collects the property.

Officers were dispatched to the 1800 block of South Stewart Avenue Tuesday evening for a found property incident. A red suitcase was found by Jill A. Ruoff. The suitcase was taken back to the Police Department to be placed into evidence for safe keeping until the owner comes to claim the property.

Wednesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the Game Stop store, 3040 West Broadway Boulevard, in reference to a report of theft. The suspect was later located near the intersection of West Broadway Boulevard and South Moniteau Avenue. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle. The stolen property was recovered and returned. Nolana A. Edwards, 23, of Raytown, was arrested on charges of Stealing and Resisting Arrest. However, Edwards was released from Police custody with no charges being sought at this time.

Sedalia Police spoke with Paris Higgins and Kennetha Haulcy at the Police Station Wednesday morning. Both of the victim's storage units at the Homestead Mini Storage, 2305 West Main Street, had been entered and items were removed. Both Haulcy and Higgins believed this occurred after May 14th of 2022 and before June 15th, 2022. The victims reported that seven totes of clothing, holiday decorations, nick-nacks, and collectibles were stolen along with a 32" television, a Rockjam keyboard with a microphone and headphones, blankets, pillows, and Japanese vases were stolen. The value of the items is over $1200. There are no suspects at this time.

Wednesday afternoon, Larry J. Yunt came to the Police Station to report that someone had changed his financial institution for banking and his address concerning his social security benefits. The Social Security office told him the date of the incident had been June 14, 2022. Yunt was also told he would be out of the amount of May's payment. There are no suspects at this time.
