Sedalia Police Reports For December 20, 2021

Sunday night, Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of South Barrett Avenue in reference to a disturbance. When Officers arrived, they spoke to the victim, who said her husband had assaulted her. The suspect was located and determined to be the primary physical aggressor. Paul Brian Lillard, 57, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold. A request for the charge of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree has been submitted to the prosecutor.

Sedalia Police took a report at West 16th Street and South Lamine Avenue in reference to a hit and run accident late Saturday night. The victim stated that while she was stopped at a stop sign at West 16th Street and South Kentucky Avenue, a vehicle rear ended her. The victim stated the other vehicle left the scene without exchanging information.

Friday night, Sedalia Police were dispatched to the 100 block of Katy Circle. When Officers arrived, they spoke with James Russell Lewis, who said he had heard a commotion outside and when he went outside, he discovered his mail box was struck by something and was lying in the road. Lewis estimated the cost to replace the damaged mailbox was $250.00. No arrests have been made at this time.

Officers were dispatched to a report of a theft that occurred in the 900 block of South Beacon Avenue Friday afternoon. Nia Buckern-Hawkins said that over the summer an Apple Watch was stolen. On December 18th, it gave an updated GPS location.

Sunday morning, an Officer performed a warrant check near the 900 block of South Barrett Avenue. The suspect was located and arrested. Beau H. Williams, 72, of Sedalia, was transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked on his active Pettis County warrant on charges of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree. Williams was booked and given a $1500 cash or surety bond.

Sedalia Police spoke with a victim on the phone in reference to a theft Sunday afternoon. The victim stated that some time in the last week her state issued EBT card went missing from her residence in the 800 block of East 6th Street.

Saturday afternoon, Officers responded to the 1100 block of South Ohio Avenue in reference to a report of assault. Contact was made with the female subject, who reported an assault by a male suspect.

Sedalia Police responded to Vermont Park, in the area of West 14th Street and South Vermont Avenue Sunday night for a report of property damage. The Officer made contact with Kelly New. New's vehicle window had been smashed and items were stolen out of it. New wished to pursue charges.

An Officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of South Limit Avenue and West 16th Street Saturday afternoon. As a result of the stop, two different license plates were seized and returned to the Missouri Department of Revenue. A written warning for improper display of vehicle registration was also issued.

Sunday morning, an Officer was dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department in reference to found property. Ashley Martin found an Indiana driver's license in the 900 block of South Osage Avenue at about noon on Saturday. The ID was entered into evidence for safekeeping.

Saturday afternoon, Officers responded to the 900 block of Winchester Drive for a report of a disturbance. Inessa Slivinskiy reported the suspect had stolen her keys and vehicle and left the scene. Slivinskiy wished to pursue charges. State charges of Stealing and Theft of a Motor Vehicle were submitted to the Pettis County Prosecutor's Office.

Sedalia Police conducted a traffic stop in the 4000 block of South Limit Avenue for failing to use a turn signal early Sunday morning. Officers made contact with the driver, ran her information through Dispatch and learned she had a suspended driver's license. Upon informing the driver that she had a suspended license and was under arrest, the driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed. Officers made contact with her at her home in the 200 block of South State Fair Boulevard a few minutes later. Carlie Rea Helms, 28, of Sedalia, was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Pettis County Jail. State charges are being requested for Failing to Signal, Driving While Suspended, and Resisting Arrest.

Officers were dispatched to the Shell gas station, 1722 West Broadway Boulevard for a reported assist agency incident involving a stolen vehicle from Benton County Saturday night. The vehicle was recovered and placed back into the owner's custody. Kimberly Diane Vanhoye, 53, of Lincoln, was arrested and charges are being sought for Tampering With a Motor Vehicle in the 1st Degree and Receiving Stolen Property.

Saturday morning, Officers met with Linda Reed in the Police Department's lobby. Reed feared someone may have accessed her personal information. At this time, it's unknown if a crime has been committed, but it's possible Reed could be a victim of a theft in the future. There are no suspects at this time.

Friday morning, Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of South Harrison Avenue for a report of a bicycle found by John Lange. A check of its serial number showed that it had not been reported stolen. The bicycle was stored in evidence for safekeeping.

An Officer initiated a traffic stop on a truck and trailer for an improperly displayed license plate near West Main Street and South Kentucky Avenue Saturday morning. A check through Dispatch showed the driver did not have a valid license. Jesus Matacua Diaz, 37, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges of felony Operating a Motor Vehicle Without a Valid License and Improperly Displayed License Plates.

Sedalia Police made contact with Deborah L. Smith Friday morning, who reported that an unknown suspect cut the lock to her storage shed in the 3000 block of Clinton Road and stole some of her property.

Friday afternoon, a van was stopped in the area of East 19th Street and South Ingram Avenue for speeding in a school zone. A warrant check of an occupant revealed he had an active felony Failure to Appear warrant out of Callaway County on original charges of Non Support. Jeremy Lynn Edgar, 33, of Sedalia, was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail on the warrant, with a $500 cash only bond.

Friday morning, Officers observed a silver Chrysler 300 eastbound on West 32nd Street in front of Skyline School. It sped up, indicating on radar it was travelling at 31 miles per hour in a 15 mile per hour zone. Officers initiated a traffic stop on it and made contact with the driver. A DOR check revealed her license was suspended out of Missouri. Kiara Renee Willis, 20, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Sedalia Police Department. Willis was released with municipal citations for Driving While Suspended, Speeding in a School Zone (16 MPH over the limit) and No Proof of Insurance.
