Sedalia Police Reports For April 27, 2021

Early Tuesday morning, Officers were dispatched to the American Inn, 1217 South Limit Avenue, in reference to a disturbance involving weapons. Jared W. Sanders, 40, of Sedalia, was taken into protective custody and transported to the Pettis County Jail. There were no injuries or assaults reported.
Sedalia Police initiated a traffic stop on a car at East Hancock Street and East Broadway Boulevard after it crossed over the double yellow line eastbound prior to Ingram Avenue Tuesday morning. A Department of Revenue check revealed the driver did not have a Missouri license and had a suspended license out of Arkansas. Reggie Ervin Townsend, 58, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail to be booked and released on a state charge of Driving While Suspended. Officers are also requesting a charge of Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility.
Monday evening, an Officer responded to the Police Department lobby in reference to a sexual assault report. The Officer took the victim's statement and a suspect name was given. No contact has been made with the suspect at this time.
Sedalia Police were dispatched to the lobby of the Police Department to speak with Eugene A Edwards about property he found. Officers spoke with Edwards, who said while he was at Vermont Park he found a key chain with keys on it and wanted to turn it in. Officers took the property and were able to locate the owner. The owner was not able to pick up the property at this time. The property was placed into evidence for safe keeping.
Monday night, Officers responded to the Bothwell Regional Emergency Room for a dog bite report. Officers spoke to Heather Canady and took a dog bite report. Officers spoke to the owner of the dog, and vaccination paperwork was provided. No criminal charges are being sought.
Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of North Grand Avenue Monday evening in reference to a physical disturbance. A female subject sustained injuries to her head, neck, and shoulder. She was treated by PCAD but refused further treatment. Noah J. Mitchell, 42, of Sedalia, was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was placed on a 24 hour hold, pending charges of Domestic Assault in the 3rd Degree.
Monday night, Officers responded to the 1900 block of South Ingram Avenue for a report of a disturbance. Following a brief investigation, it was determined that a juvenile subject damaged siding and a window screen at the property. The juvenile remained in the care of the facility and a juvenile referral is being sent to the Pettis County Juvenile Office for a charge of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree. While there, an unrelated report was made about damage that a juvenile had caused to a vehicle on April 19th. The damage was estimated at $587. A charge of Property Damage in the 2nd Degree is being referred to the Pettis County Juvenile Office.
Last Thursday night, Officers initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle for expired registration in the area of South Montgomery Avenue and East Broadway Boulevard. Officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and searched it. Items related to the distribution of marijuana were found in the vehicle. Kardell E. Sims Jr., 21, of Sedalia, was arrested, transported to the Pettis County Jail and booked on charges of Possession of Marijuana and Distribution of a Controlled Substance. Sims was placed on a 24 hour hold pending charges.
Monday evening, an Officer responded to Housel Park, 201 East Saline Street, for a report of found property. Nicole Polk reported that she found five fire extinguishers in the park. The fire extinguishers were all empty. They were taken and stored for safe keeping.
Monday evening, Officers responded to the 500 block of East 10th Street in reference to a physical disturbance in progress. Officers made contact with two parties, stating that the fight was between two brothers. One of the brothers had an apparent minor injury to his arms. The other brother was not on scene when Police arrived. A 12 hour log will be done to document the incident.
