Every time you go to the store it seems like the price is higher than what it was the last time you shopped. We're always looking for ways to save money and this might be one that will help.

How many times do you load up the grocery cart with fresh items from the selection of vegetables and/or fruit? And how many times do you wind up throwing away a portion of that now not-so-fresh veggies and fruit? You had good intentions when you purchased them but you never got around to using or fixing those items in time and now they've gone bad and you have to dispose of them. Money down the drain or into the wastebasket.

Here's an idea that might help you to still purchase those fruits and vegetables and not throw away the items and money like before. Try buying frozen instead of fresh. Now, of course, there's some items that just won't work if you freeze them, e.g., salad, but for the most part, you can buy other items that will last longer and will be there at your disposal. (Instead of running them through the disposal when they go bad!)

So instead of cruising your cart towards the fresh food section, turn and go down the frozen food aisle. You'll save a bundle by stocking up your freezer instead of the refrigerator.

According to thepennyhoarder.com:

The fruit and vegetables that end up in the frozen foods aisle of your local supermarkets are often picked and frozen at the peak of freshness. Essentially, they end up being more “fresh” than some of the produce that has to travel from farms to the stores to your kitchen counter.
