Report – Missouri Did Away With Over 6,000 Feral Hogs Last Year
This just in. It's not healthy to be a feral hog in Missouri. A new report shows that the Show Me State did away with over 6,000 of these invasive animals over the past 12 months.
I saw this new data on Missouri's feral hog problem shared by Field & Stream. It appears to be based off of a new report from the University of Missouri about the Missouri Feral Hog Elimination Partnership.
The new numbers show that Missouri eliminated 6,289 invasive feral hogs during 2022. That sounds like a lot and it is, but that's half the number that were taken out by Missouri just two years ago.
The invasive feral hog problem is so serious in Missouri there is quite literally a Feral Hog Strike Team that coordinates with other agencies to get rid of these creatures. The concern is that these hogs are damaging the ecosystem of creatures that are native to Missouri which limits the resources needed for them to survive also. There are also reports that the hogs are getting closer to populated areas which isn't good for anyone or anything.
