Pettis County Sheriff’s reports for August 12, 2021
This is a compilation of reports released by the Pettis County Sheriff's Office:
On Tuesday, Aug. 10 around 5:30 p.m., a Pettis County Deputy while on patrol on Y Highway and Hedge Apple Drive, observed a motorcycle doing 62 mph in a 45 mph zone on Y Highway. A traffic stop was conducted at Y Highway and West Country Club Drive. The male told the Deputy he was not familiar with the area or the speed limit. He presented the Deputy with a Missouri driver's license. A computer check revealed the driver was wanted on warrants out of Jackson County and Kansas City. 30-year-old Brian C. Jefferson was then arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail, where he was booked and given a $3,000 bond. He now has an Aug. 24 court date.
On Monday, Aug. 9 around 5:30 p.m., while on patrol near 16th and Kentucky, a Deputy observed a white 2007 Ford Fusion with expired tags. A traffic stop was conducted at 1100 South Osage and the Deputy made contact with the white female driver. She told the Deputy her license was inside the residence and that she was driving her son's vehicle. The Deputy informed her the vehicle only had one plate, and there was no front plate. A computer check revealed that the plate belonged to a different vehicle out of Independence. The driver was identified as 64-year-old Brenda K. Jones. She was found to be driving while suspended. Jones was arrested and taken to the Pettis County Jail, where she was booked and released with a citation and a court date of Oct. 13.
On Monday at 7:21 p.m., Deputies Crampton & Cook were dispatched to 100 East Morgan in La Monte for a report of a disturbance. The Deputies were advised that the children had gone to a neighbor's residence and told the neighbor a 15-year-old hit the victim on the right side of the face. Contact was made with the suspect and the victim. The suspect was taken into custody for child abuse and held pending the formal filing of charges.
On Monday, Pettis County Deputies took a report of a bat bite at Bothwell Regional Health Center's Emergency Room.
