Pettis County County Announces Opening of Claycomb Road Bridge over Turkey Creek
On Friday, Sept. 16 at 10:30 a.m., the Pettis County Commission, Missouri Department of Transportation Senior Construction Inspector Brian Lavender, Brenneke Construction, and Anderson Engineering, Inc. conducted a final inspection for Bridge No. 4510021 BRO B080 (039) on Claycomb Road.
After the completion of the bridge inspection, it was determined that the project was substantially finalized and the road was ordered opened to traffic, effective immediately.
“From day one, we made it clear that infrastructure improvements such as bridge maintenance and replacements were one of the top priorities of our administration” stated Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza. “We have worked very hard to keep that commitment by identifying these bridges early, pursuing the most cost-effective solutions, and keeping the most rural areas of our county connected.” Commissioner Baeza added.
The approximately $350,000 bridge is the second of two bridge replacements completed along Claycomb Road as part of the Bridge Replacement Off System (B.R.O) projects. Through this program, the Federal Highway Administration paid for 100% of the cost, avoiding the expenditures of local tax dollars.
The total completion time for this improvement was just 67 days from its beginning on July 11. The completion of this project marks the third major bridge replacement of 2022, with a fourth bridge on Harding Road expected to be completed by November of this year.
Eastern Commissioner Israel Baeza concluded by saying, “I am thankful for everyone that saw the importance of investing in these infrastructure improvements, as they ensure our roads are safe for our students, families, and business owners – while also resulting in economic development opportunities and growth for our county.”
