Infamous Ozark Music Festival Was Missouri’s Woodstock [Video]

Some have fond memories of something very unique that took place in Sedalia, Missouri in the 1970s. Others would prefer to forget it ever happened. The Ozark Music Festival was held in July 1974 at the Missouri State Fairgrounds, and it was basically the Show-Me State's version of Woodstock. Depending on who you ask, it was either an incredible event or a total disaster. Check out this video that was uploaded to YouTube to see footage from the festival.

One thing that can be said about the festival is that it featured some of the biggest rock stars of the 70s, some of which have gone on to become legendary. The Eagles, Lynyrd Skynrd, Aerosmith, Bachman-Turner Overdrive and America were among the bands and performers that appeared, and it was hosted by the famous radio personality Wolfman Jack, according to The Kansas City Star.

Another thing that can't be disputed is that the crowd left behind a colossal mess. You can actually see some of this mess toward the end of the YouTube video. There were a lot of drugs during the festival, and lot of nudity, says The Kansas City Star report. One person died of an overdose, and a Missouri Senate Committee was formed to review the festival.

Love it or hate it, The Ozark Music Festival is a part of Missouri's history. It's interesting to see this film shot from the 1970s, decades before nearly everyone started walking around with a HD cameras built into their phones.
