Open Door Building to Serve as Cold Shelter Overnight
The Open Door Building in Sedalia is planning to be open Saturday and Sunday nights to serve as a cold shelter for residents who are without heat in their homes.
The Open Door Building (Community Cafe) is located at 417 W. Pettis Street.
A post on Open Door's Facebook page, asks residents to bring their own blankets and pillows, if they can. If not, that's ok too.
At this point, the plan is to be open Saturday and Sunday nights (Dec 30 - 31).
Open Door says if you are out in the elements, or don't have proper heating in your home, please come and be safe and warm.
The National Weather Service forecast indicates wind chills in the Pettis County area could reach 15 - 25 below this weekend.
