Nichols Earns Master Board Member Recognition

Diana Nichols, president of the Sedalia School District 200 Board of Education, has earned Master Board Member Certification by the Missouri School Boards’ Association.

According to MSBA, the program was established to recognize local school board members for pursuing additional learning opportunities beyond the legally required training.

All newly elected school board members must complete a basic 18.5- hour Essential Training program required by Missouri state law; they also are required to participate in annual refresher training.

The Master Certification requires fulfillment of the Essential and Advanced levels, as well as:

Accumulating at least 40 hours of training credit

Reading two books related to school board service

Attending at least two MSBA meetings within the year

Writing a brief reflection paper that connects the subjects they have studied to the governance practices of the school district they serve.

The Missouri School Boards’ Association is a not-for-profit organization that helps school boards ensure all students succeed.
