A 21-year old Smithton resident was among five people arrested for drug offenses on December 5, when Moniteau County authorities conducted a search of a residence in California, MO.

A press release from the Moniteau County Sheriff's Department says deputies went to the residence, located on Versailles Street, to attempt locating a wanted fugitive.

Deputies made contact with the residences and reportedly received a consent to search for the fugitive, identified as 26-year old Caleb T. Sewell, of Tipton.

Sewell was wanted on federal drug charges stemming from a previous case.

The press release indicates that deputies located Sewell in the basement, along with several other subjects.

Deputies say they noticed drug paraphernalia in the residence and obtained another consent to search for drugs. During the search, authorities reportedly found methamphetamine, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and items used to package and distribute drugs.

Five people were arrested and taken to the Moniteau County Jail.

Caleb T. Sewell was arrested on federal drug charges and transferred to U.S. Marshals.

21-year old Alex Z. Gilbert, of Smithton, MO, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute (meth), with a bond of $50,000.

22-year old Emily J. Wyrick, of Tipton, MO, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance (meth), with a bond of $25,000.

23-year old Adam E. Clancy, of California, MO, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, with a bond of $15,000.

Nathan Lubbert, of California, MO, was arrested for Possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, with a bond of $500.
