The Missouri Department of Conservation will offer a free Noxious Weeds and Invasive Plant Management Workshop from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 16, at the Warrensburg Community Center.

According to the MDC, invasive plants and noxious weeds harm recreation, wildlife and agriculture. Property owners are required by state law to control state-listed 'noxious weeds' on their property.

Steve Hoel, a private land conservationist with the MDC, will discuss identification and control of aggressive plant species that are currently a problem, or may become one, for landowners. Participants at the free workshop will learn to recognize invasive plant species, learn why controls are needed, and what options are available.

The workshop is presented by MDC, Citizens for Environmental Action, and Warrensburg Parks and Recreation. The Warrensburg Community Center is located at 445 East Gay Street.

Preregistration is required for the workshop. To register, call 660-747-7178.
