Area authorities recently arrested one man after a vehicle pursuit through several counties.

Clinton Police say around 11:00 Saturday morning (April 20), the department was informed of a vehicle pursuit heading toward Clinton involving the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office. Clinton Officers were staged at the intersection of MO-13 and Calvird Drive with Stop Sticks, to help assist with stopping the vehicle.

Authorities say as the vehicle approached the location of the Clinton Officers, it was observed to be weaving in and out of traffic, and traveling at a high rate of speed. As the suspect vehicle was passing, stop sticks were deployed, and an officer sustained minor injuries from the deployment.

The suspect, later identified as Dylan Offutt, of Phillipsburg, MO, evaded law enforcement and left the city limits.

The at approximately 12:00 p.m., Clinton Police were notified by dispatch the suspect vehicle had been found near Sedalia and was now being pursued by Pettis & Henry County deputies and heading back toward Clinton.

During the pursuit, the suspect vehicle reportedly attempted to hit other patrol vehicles.
Clinton Police were staged at MO-52 and Vansant Road with stop sticks, preparing to stop the vehicle.

As the vehicle was approached the city limits of Clinton, it began swerving between other vehicles and into the oncoming lane. The suspect vehicle then turned onto a gravel road, which was known to be a private drive.

Clinton Police, along with the Henry County deputies pursued the vehicle, which traveled across a field and later stopped near a creek.

Offutt was finally apprehended without further incident. It was later determined the vehicle was stolen from Laclede County.

Offutt was charged with multiple offenses and was taken to the Henry County Jail.
