KIX 105’s Picks for the 2016 ACM Awards

The 2016 ACM Awards will be handed out on April 3. Who will win in the major categories? Here are the picks from the KIX 105 DJs. See if you agree, and then vote for your own choices in each category!

Entertainer of the Year
Nominees: Jason Aldean, Garth Brooks, Luke Bryan, Miranda Lambert and Eric Church.
Beau Matthews: Garth Brooks. That fact that he is out still on tour and kicking butt still amazes me!
Kurt Parsons: I think it's going to be another win for Luke Bryan. He might be the biggest star in country music, right now.
Derrick Gill: Garth Brooks. When you make more money than anyone else, just touring, you should win Entertainer of the Year.
Male Vocalist of the Year
Nominees: Jason Aldean, Eric Church, Brett Eldredge, Chris Stapleton and Dierks Bentley
Beau Matthews: Eric Church.
Kurt Parsons: Eric Church. A lot of people are predicting a big night for Eric Church. I can see that happening.
Derrick Gill: Eric Church. I think it will be close between him and Chris Stapleton. They are both really different and have stood out this past year. Eric Church has had more cart topping songs, so he gets the award.
Female Vocalist of the Year
Nominees: Kelsea Ballerini, Jana Kramer, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves and Carrie Underwood
Beau Matthews: Jana Kramer.
Kurt Parsons: I don't think it's even close. Carrie Underwood.
Derrick Gill: Carrie Underwood. Her Storyteller album has produced nothing but huge hits. Heatbeat,Little Toy Guns, and Smoke break have been three of this years biggest songs.
Vocal Duo of the Year
Nominees: Brothers Osborne, Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Maddie + Tae and Joey + Rory
Beau Matthews: Joey + Rory. Even with what they are going through with the cancer, they should have been nominated many times over in the past. Best sound around. Period
Kurt Parsons: Joey + Rory would be the emotional choice, but I think Florida Georgia Line will end up winning the award.
Derrick Gill: Joey + Rory. They have been through a lot this year. They are also arguably the biggest story in country music.
Vocal Group of the Year
Nominees: Eli Young Band, Little Big Town, Rascal Flatts, Old Dominion and Zac Brown Band
Beau Matthews: Zac Brown Band. Love how they prepare for concerts and making sure the concertgoer gets their money's worth. Great variety of music.
Kurt Parsons: Zac Brown Band. The other nominees are great, but their year hasn't been as strong as the Zac Brown Band's.
Derrick Gill: Zac Brown Band. Their Jackal and Hyde album has produced at least three top 10 songs this year. Beautiful Drug, Loving You Easy, and Home Grown. Plus rock success with Heavy is the Head. They win group of the year.
Album of the Year
Nominees: Eric Church, 'Mr. Misunderstood,' Sam Hunt, 'Montevallo,' Thomas Rhett, 'Tangled Up,' Chris Young, 'I’m Comin’ Over' and Chris Stapleton, 'Traveller'
Beau Matthews: Chris Young. Great sound...love his music.
Kurt Parsons: Eric Church, Mr. Misunderstood.
Derrick Gill: Chris Stapleton, Traveller. He could win the Grammy for album of the year. He won the CMA for Album of the Year. He should win this one too.
