Keith Urban helped revelers in Nashville ring in 2019 with an outdoor performance, part of the city's New Year's Eve festivities. During his headlining set, the country star invited rock guitarist Peter Frampton to join him on a cover of Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama."

Readers can press play above to watch Urban and Frampton jam on the iconic Southern rock classic. Frampton joined Urban onstage a few lines into the song, offering his guitar stylings throughout the track and jamming with Urban, too.

Urban and Frampton's rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama" was in tribute to former Lynyrd Skynyrd guitarist Ed King, who died in August at the age of 68. After meeting the band in the late 1960s, King joined Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1972, replacing bassist Leon Wilkeson; when Wilkeson re-joined the band, King became one of the group's three guitarists.

King played on Skynyrd's first three albums and also co-wrote "Sweet Home Alabama," as well as "Saturday Night Special," "Railroad Song" and others. King left Lynyrd Skynyrd in 1975, but re-joined the band in 1987. Due to congestive heart failure, he was forced to retire from the group in 1996, though he reunited with the band in 2006, for their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction.

Urban headlined Nashville's New Year's Eve concert, at the city's Bicentennial Capitol Mall State Park, for the third year in a row as 2018 turned into 2019. In addition to Urban and Frampton, the bill also included Brett Young, Caitlyn Smith and more.
