Getting our family out of town for a getaway to Kansas City is an accomplishment for many of us. Most of us are content getting out of town and maybe staying at a Hampton Inn or someplace that's not too expensive. Or perhaps we want the downtown experience of a slightly more expensive hotel. Either way, I don't think many of us have the bread for a suite with the words presidential or penthouse in front of it, right? Yet, if money were no object, here are two of the most expensive suites you can get in Kansas City.

Presidential Suite at The Fontane

The Presidential Suite at the Fontaine offers VIP guests 1500 square feet of living space and is, if their website is to be believed, the crown jewel of The Fontane. Guests are welcome to spend one night or weeks on end in the Presidential Suite, which includes a kitchenette for entertaining, a dining room that seats eight, and a connecting lounge. There's also a guest bath, a luxury oversized bathroom with a deep soaking tub, and a separate rainfall shower. Outside, there's a 750-square-foot connecting terrace with a panoramic view, an outdoor dining table for eight, and an outdoor lounge seating area.

An optional guest room also adjoins the suite, and in-house sound is throughout. All suites come with custom-designed beds, Egyptian cotton liners, Goose-down Hypoallergenic pillows, a premium bathrobe, bath amenities by Lather, and a fully stocked mini-bar.

The cost to book the Presidential Suite for three nights over the last weekend in September, checking in on Friday and checking out on Monday, is $3,008.00, or about $1,000 a night.

Loft Suite and Parlor Suite at The Ambassador Kansas City

When I asked ChatGPT what the most expensive hotel rooms are in Kansas City, it gave me the Presidential Suite at the Fontaine and the Penthouse Suite at the Ambassador Hotel. I haven't found any reference to a Penthouse Suite at the Ambassador. If they have one, it's not bookable on the website.

At the Ambassador, they offer two types of sites. One is a Parlor Suite with a large living area for entertaining guests and a separate bedroom. The other is a loft suite on two floors. It features the building's historic windows with plenty of natural light, a wet bar, and a half bath downstairs. Both types of suites include a marble bathroom with a walk-in shower.

While both hotels' accommodations are very nice, the Ambassador seems to have fewer amenities and, on the surface, seems less presidential. The cost to stay in a one-king-bed loft two-floor suite the first weekend in October is $2,524.72, or about $842 a night. So it's slightly cheaper than the Presidential Suite at The Fontaine, but still up there when it comes to cost.

It's fun to dream about staying in accommodations like this; however, for two people just trying to enjoy a getaway, these accommodations almost seem like overkill, not because of how expensive they are but because of the amount of space that comes with them. That said, if I won the lottery, I can't tell you I wouldn't book one of these suites and throw a classy party for some of my friends. I'll even pick up the hotel tab for their rooms!
