Health Center Concerned About COVID-19 Spread in Pettis County
The Pettis County Health Center says with 200 current active COVID-19 cases and 500 contacts the opportunity for someone to get the coronavirus is higher now than at any other time during the pandemic. The continued upward trend of the coronavirus has caused Bothwell Regonal Health Center and Katy Trail Community Health to adjust some of their policies. While the Pettis County Health Center has concerns about people testing positive for COVID-19 ignoring quarantine and isolation orders. These items from the Pettis County COVID-19 Task Force Briefing from Monday September 28.
Bothwell Regional Health Center says due to the increased number of COVID-19 cases no visitors will be allowed in the Bothwell Emergency Department. One visitor per admitted patient will still be allowed during visiting hours from 10:00AM -4:00PM daily and all visitors must check in.
Additionally Bothwell says they currently have eleven patients hospitalized with COVID-19. Curbside testing is still available for all individuals at Bothwell's walk in clinic on West 10th Street.
Katy Trail Community Health has chosen to see most of their adult patients virtually. Those who have appointments scheduled will be contacted regarding how their doctor's appointment will be conducted.
Pettis County Community Health Center says that positivitiy rate for last week jumped to 8.36% compared to 5.39% for the previous week. And there were 145 new cases in Pettis County from September 15-21, which is the County's highest total since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Health Center also says people are ignoring quarantine or isolation orders. They say they have verified this through Facebook and other sources that show children and adults who have tested positive for the coronavirus, or who have been asked to stay home to protect others, out and about in the community engaged in activities.
