Fudge Lovers Paradise? Try This Small Missouri Country Store For The Best
My mother likes to make fudge as do a few of my extended family. It seems to be an activity they do more as the fall and winter month come upon us. I have a feeling this shop in Missouri will give them a run for their money. If you love sweets, I suggest you seek out Old Village Mercantile Caledonia. It may be worth it.
It's an experience for the whole family. 2 floors with Old Fashioned Candy, Award Winning Handcrafted Ice Cream, Fudge, Coffee House & Antique Gallery, Gifts, and so much more.
They are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Old Village Mercantile is an award winning authentic c. 1909 mercantile that takes you back to a simpler time. Enjoy 600 varieties of Old Fashioned Candy, and there is much more to see! Located in the Historic Village of Caledonia, MO.
You certainly get all sorts of nostalgia in this place, so plan for an hour or two to check everything out. Now let's get to the fudge!
There is freshly made Amish fudge that is a must to try. Do you go with the classic chocolate? Maybe they will have peanut butter when you are there, or cookie dough or even a dreamsicle option. I think this girl wants the peanut butter.
Now obviously you can get more than fudge. I mentioned there is over 600 kinds of candy available. Taffy anyone? May be more appealing in the Spring, but it will keep so stock up.
Perhaps you would like something salty OR sweet? Who likes popcorn? More than 12 dozen flavors and some unique ones too. Pizza? Pickle? Banana? Chocolate? Yes you can get them all.
This place is also famous for its ice cream! They often will have unusual flavor combinations that get voted on by the customers. Certainly flavors are available year round, and some are seasonal. Waffle cones are also made fresh daily.
Not that long ago, I wrote up a story about 10 great places to get coffee in Missouri. You can read that article HERE. Maybe I should have included this place. 50...yes I said 50 different coffee flavors are available to you, hot or cold, and you can buy in bulk.
So if all of this doesn't give you the incentive to take the drive to this place, check out their website HERE and maybe some of the items you can get delivered to you. This place will often have events as well as being a part of events around the area.
I think I will be making a trip out here soon. My mother could try the fudge and see if it is as good as hers. Click HERE for their Facebook page. Enjoy!
