After working with Sacred Heart Parish and School and the Diocese of Jefferson City for the past 29 years, Sacred Heart School Principal Dr. Mark Register announced today (Dec. 17) that he will resign effective June 30, 2014.

"Acknowledging that this has been a terribly difficult decision, I have come to believe that the time is right for change," said Dr. Register in a statement. "It is my hope that by making this announcement now, Fr. Miller and the Sacred Heart School Board will have ample time to conduct a thorough and strategic search in order to find that right person who will provide our wonderful school the direction it needs and deserves."

Dr. Register also thanked the students and parents of the parish, both past and present, for making his work fulfilling and the school successful.

"Our school is a great place because of the people who work here, attend school here and generally support us in so many ways," he said. "Sacred Heart School truly is a labor of love."
