Consume Legal Marijuana In Missouri Entertainment District? Yes! When?
As many of you now may know, marijuana will now be legal in the state of Missouri for anyone 21 years of age and older. Missouri voters want it, and since this will become law, the small village of River Bend, Missouri, which happens to be along the Missouri River north of Independence wants to get a jump start and make room for businesses to sell edible marijuana.
It’s called the Smokey River Entertainment District, and it will be built in the near future. This will be the brain child of Joey Pintozzi and Jack Mitchell. Joey is Besa Hospitality Group VP of Operations Marketing and Jack is an entrepreneur who has been involved in Missouri's medical marijuana industry.
According to Pintozzi, he says it makes sense to turn the mostly unused land north of the Missouri River into a massive entertainment district with wedding venues, an amphitheater, clubs, restaurants, and spots for people to consume recreational marijuana. If any of us have ever been to a concert, we have probably smelled, or smoked marijuana and it seems almost normal now, since cannabis has become more mainstream.
After Missouri approved the transition to recreational use, they’re pushing this massive project on an ambitious project, trying to complete small developments by Spring 2023. Mitchell expects the first phase to cost between $30-50 million to get the space ready for smaller events in the spring. He hopes that gathers interest, leading to future development that could cost considerably more.
