Concordia Woman Killed in Saline County Rollover
A Concordia woman was killed and a seven-year-old boy seriously injured in a one-vehicle crash that occurred Friday afternoon in Saline County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a northbound 2012 GMC Acadia, driven by 30-year-old Katherine E. Peroni-Searles of Concordia, was on US 65, north of Keokuk Road (north of Marshall Junction in the Blackwater Township) just after 2 p.m., when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and the GMC traveled off the right side of the roadway, traveled through a separator, struck an embankment and went airborne. The Acadia impacted the ground multiple times and the driver was ejected from the vehicle.
Peroni-Searles was pronounced dead at the scene by Saline County Deputy D. Taylor at 2:22 p.m. The body was released to the Saline County Coroner.
Her passenger, a seven year-old male, suffered serious injuries and was flown to Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City by Lifeflight Eagle.
The GMC was totaled and towed by Diehm's Towing.
Saline County Deputies assisted the seven Troopers and one park ranger on scene.
