The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that a man driving a tractor was killed after being struck from behind by a truck Saturday afternoon in Pettis County.

62-year-old Lyle E. McMillin of Cole Camp was the driver of a northbound International farm tractor on Highway 65 at Route V at shortly before 3:30 p.m., when he was struck from behind by a northbound 2010 Ford truck driven by 70-year-old Richard R. Long of Lincoln.

McMillin was ejected from the tractor, then immediately struck by the Ford truck, according to the report. McMillin was pronounced deceased at the scene by Pettis County Coroner Robert "Skip" Smith at 3:32 p.m.

Long was transported by ambulance to Bothwell Regional Health Center for medical treatment for minor injuries, while McMillin's body was taken to the Boone County Medical Examiner's Office.

Both vehicles were totaled and towed from the scene by Don's Truck Towing. Pettis County deputies assisted the Troopers on scene.
