Clinton Police Investigating Death of 29-year-old Male

Clinton Police Officers were dispatched to a private residence in the 300 Block of East Jefferson St on Monday, Feb. 28.

A domestic assault had been reported and upon Officer's arrival, a female victim was contacted who indicated that the suspect had exited the residence just before hearing a gunshot from the vicinity of the back yard of the residence.

Officers then located the body of a 29-year-old male with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a facebook post by Clinton PD at 2:55 p.m. Wednesday.

While this incident remains under investigation, it has been determined that there is no threat of danger to the community at large.

The deceased's identity is not being released for the time being to provide opportunity for proper family notifications.
