Classic Country Jamboree Benefit for SFCC Scholarships & Soccer

The Genuine Country Music Association (GCMA) will host its 7th annual Classic Country Jamboree benefit on October 20 in the Exhibition Center at Lodge of Four Seasons, at Lake Ozark, to help raise scholarship funds for students attending State Fair Community College-Lake of the Ozarks and for Lake of the Ozarks Soccer Association.

SFCC says seven entertainers and the Board of Directors Band will perform a variety of traditional country music. Doors will open at 1:00 p.m. for the silent auction and the show begins at 2:00 p.m..

Last year the benefit raised $15,000 for SFCC’s Lake of the Ozarks students.

SFCC says this year’s headliner is Landon Dodd, a traditional country music singer from Texas who has been playing and singing since he was 17. He says music has always been a part of his life and “honky tonkin’” is in his blood. He has traveled extensively from Texas to Scotland and England. His music is often heard on “Willie’s Roadhouse” on SiriusXM Satellite Radio.

Returning are Tim Atwood, a musician, singer, storyteller, and entertainer who is a 39-year veteran of the Grand Ole Opry staff band; Dennis Stroughmatt, fiddler extraordinaire, singer, recording artist; Scotty Henderson, a Kansas Steel Guitar Hall of Fame member who has performed for more than 30 years; Alicia Farrell Lange, a Lake of the Ozarks native who is a demo singer and back-up vocalist in Nashville; J.R. Love, a talented country and gospel singer from St. Louis area; and The Board of Directors Band, with Roy Dee and Jim Phinney on guitar, Bobby Regot on drums and John Farrell on bass. Bill (Goofer) Atterberry, singer and comedian, was a surprise performer at last year’s event and will return, guaranteeing everyone a good laugh. Bill was an entertainer at Lee Mac’s Ozark Opry in Osage Beach for over 38 years.

Roxane Atwood, a Nashville TV producer, announcer and voice-over artist, will emcee the event with John Farrell.

There will also be a dance floor, concessions, a silent auction featuring many items, and a live auction for a prime rib dinner and an evening with the Board of Directors Band.

Tickets are $20.00 for GCMA members, $30.00 for nonmembers and free for children under age 12.

Tickets are available at John Farrell Real Estate Company, located at 5750 Osage Beach Parkway, and SFCC-Lake of the Ozarks, at 3797 Osage Beach Parkway, both in Osage Beach. Tickets are also available at the SFCC Foundation, located at 3201 W. 16^th Street, in Sedalia.

John Farrell, Brad Rigby and Tony Smith founded the GCMA in 2009 to promote, perform and maintain traditional country music. The association is a 501c3 organization.
