The body of missing kayaker Christopher David Salmons. 40, was located Sunday afternoon around 1:30 p.m., by Troopers from the Marine Division of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Salmons had been missing since 11 a.m. on Friday, March 14, (nine days earlier) when he went to go kayaking on Truman Lake in the Clear Creek Cove area.

Salmons, a native of Fort Hood Texas, lived in Warsaw with his wife Angela Marie (Yoast) Salmons and their two children, Damon Michael Salmons and Ellianna Raine Salmons.

He was a 10-year-veteran of the US Army.

The patrol says Salmons was kayaking in high winds and fell out and drowned due to the temperature of the water.

On the morning of March 14, the water temperature at Truman Lake was reported to be 45 degrees Fahrenheit.

The report stated that he was not wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident.

MSHP Troop A posted on Wednesday, March 19 that the Water Patrol and Dive Team members had been searching the Clear Creek Cove area since March 14, when he was reported missing by his family.  He was reportedly located 100 yards off the boat ramp in the cove.

A memorial for Salmons has been scheduled for Sunday afternoon starting at 1 p.m. at Heckart Funeral Home in Sedalia.
