Authorities are investigating a homicide that occurred in Stover, MO on Sunday.

A press release from the Morgan County Sheriff's Department indicates that on Sunday (May 6), deputies were dispatched for a 911 call of a man requesting immediate response in regards to an ongoing assault on his wife.

The man was not at the location of the assault and was reportedly requesting assistance at 14968 Highway N, in Stover, MO.

Law enforcement arrived and officers reportedly heard the sound of a "distraught" woman in the residence. Morgan County deputies forced entry into the home and located an unresponsive male subject on the floor and a female subject in a "hysterical state" in an adjacent room.

The man was identified as 79-year old Thomas Chandler Sr., of Stover. The press release indicates life-saving measures were taken but were ineffective. Chandler was pronounced dead.

The woman, whose name was not available, was taken to a local hospital for treatment and later released.

The investigation is ongoing and an autopsy of Mr. Chandler is scheduled for May 8.

According to the press release, the Morgan County Sheriff's Department has no reason to believe the public is in danger in regards to this incident.
