This Missouri Water Park Is Closed For Good
This Missouri waterpark in Independence has hosted its final season and will never operate again.
Adventure Oasis Water Park
Adventure Oasis Water Park, The City of Independence's waterpark with over 700 feet of water slides and a 900 foot lazy river will never operate as a waterpark again. This is according to a Facebook post on the Adventure Oasis Water Park page.
Last October, a City Council Study Session was held concerning the future of the aging facility. PRT staff recommended closing the park based on financial losses, underfunded capital investment, the end of a management contract, and the limited impact of running only twelve weeks per year.
Now comes the official word that the park will not open this season, or any future seasons. Twelve years ago it was a much different story.
Problems With Adventure Oasis Water Park
A detailed Facebook post with pictures outlines some of the park's maintenance and wear-and-tear issues. They include a dangerous bridge over the lazy river, concrete damage on the pedestrian bridge, the walls of the lazy river, and significant damage and wear and tear in the mechanical room.

The bottom line is that Adventure Oasis will not reopen because the cost of repairs is too high for patrons to be safe.
What's Next, Is There A Replacement In Sight?
On the post addressing the closure, the City of Independence says, "The Parks, Recreation, and Tourism Department is working on a new Parks Master Plan, and we want your input!" So there is time for the citizens of Independence to ask for a new waterpark, perhaps inside, where it can operate year round for Independence residents and those living in the area.
