1.8 Million Masks to be Sent to Missouri Schools

We all know that the upcoming 2020-21 school year is going to be one that will go down in the history books. So much indecision and changes have made it nearly impossible for kids, parents, and school districts to know what exactly is going to happen. One thing we do know in Missouri, there will be a shipment of masks going to schools across the state.

According to a report from television station KY3 in Springfield, Missouri Governor Mike Parson says 1.8 million cloth masks are being sent ahead of the new school year. According to the KY3 report, the masks are being provided through the Missouri State Emergency Management Agency to help schools with PPE procurement.

According to the Sedalia School District 200 web page, information pertaining to the decision was made by the Sedalia School District #200 Board of Education. On Monday, August 10, the board voted in favor of of K-12 students and staff members returning to in-person education with face coverings (masks, face shields, gaiter scarves) required when 6-foot social distancing cannot be achieved. Pettis County Early Childhood Center will meet in person but face coverings will be optional for students.

 State law and health regulations require students to be properly immunized and provide verification to the school nurse, unless they have an appropriate exemption card from Pettis County Health Center on file.
