Authorities arrested a woman in Sedalia early Saturday morning in connection to a murder investigation in Johnson County.

According to a press release from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, 31-year old Jema Donahue (Heffernan), was arrested for the murder of her husband, 31-year-old Javon Donahue, of Knob Noster.

Acting on information, authorities obtained a search warrant for a rural Johnson County farm, which was the suspected burial site. The site was located and eventually excavated.

The press release states that as a result of the excavation, the body of Javon Donahue was unearthed. Upon the discovery of the victim’s body, officers located the suspect at Welch Court, and detained Jema Donahue for questioning. She was taken to the Pettis/Johnson County Line and custody was transferred to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Around 1:00 Saturday morning (Apr 22), investigators placed Jema Donahue in custody and she was incarcerated for the murder of her husband.

Then around 1:00 Saturday afternoon, an arrest warrant for Second Degree Murder was served to Jema Donahue while she was being held in the Johnson County Jail, on a $25,000 bond.

The pres release states that officers from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Warrensburg Police Department, Missouri State Highway Patrol, and Kansas City Police Department are continuing to investigate the homicide.
