In addition, the city of Sedalia has activated the Sedalia emergency snow routes effective at Noon Saturday.

The City of Sedalia has activated the EMERGENCY SNOW ROUTES effective Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 12 p.m. (noon) on the basis of the weather forecast of snow.

Parking is prohibited on the streets designated as Emergency Snow Routes. People living on emergency snow routes are required to remove their vehicles from the street to assist street crews.

EMERGENCY TOWING: Please note that the Street Department will determine which streets require immediate clearing. When this occurs, the Street Department will contact the Sedalia Police Department and emergency towing will begin in the area requested. To assist your city and to save yourself tow fees, the City of Sedalia is asking residents of the snow route to be proactive and remove your vehicles prior to 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Saturday, February 28, 2015.

The parking prohibition will be in effect until terminated by announcement or the street is substantially clear of snow and ice from curb to curb for the length of the entire block. A map of the Emergency Snow Routes may be viewed

The Sedalia/Pettis County EMA Director, David Clippert reminded you to be careful.

A mix bag of stuff coming our way over the next week. It looks like we could expect to see 3-5 inches of snow starting Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning. I would really love to say there is not any ice predicted in snow, but we have seen the past couple of weeks that change pretty quickly.

We do however have a forecast for Monday showing a wintry mix of snow, ice and sleet. Good break on Tuesday with temps in the high 40’s and another chance of a wintry mix on Wednesday turning to snow on Thursday. That is still a ways out, so every bit of that is subject to change. Again none of this is expected to be a major winter event, just enough to make it a pain.

The MoDOT is preparing to clear the roads with the weekend storm.
