Diane Simon was on the show this morning talking about the upcoming ceremony this Saturday honoring Lt. George Whiteman.  On Tuesday, Sedalia artist Don Luper and his son Dalton Luper positioned a P-40 World War II fighter plane at Katy Park for the “Whiteman Legacy of Freedom” installation that will be part of the Whiteman Corridor. The P-40 was installed along with a sculpture of the B-2 Stealth Bomber; both were created by Don Luper. The Whiteman Corridor begins at the childhood home of 2nd Lt. George Whiteman, the first American pilot killed in aerial combat during WWII and the namesake of Whiteman Air Force Base.

The Whiteman Wreath Ceremony will be Saturday, May 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.  Then activities will shift to the corner of 24th & Grand (Katy Park) at 11:15 for the Whiteman Corridor Dedication.
