What’s The Big Deal?

Some people are giving Taylor Swift some flack for coming out with a pop album. She announced that her new album is called "1989", and it'll be out October 27th. I don't understand why a lot of critics are making it a big deal.  So she's popular enough to carry her music over to the pop genre...what's wrong with that?  I give her credit for trying to gain a larger fan base.  She's at the point in her career that she needs to ride the wave and enjoy it while she can.  What's the quote?  "The fame that goes with wealth and beauty is fleeting and fragile; intellectual superiority is a possession glorious and eternal."  I'd say she has the smarts to make it work!
